How the aggregate marks calculated

The calculation of aggregate marks in the IIT-JEE Advanced 2023 rank list involves summing up the scores obtained in Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry. To be included in the rank list, candidates must meet both the subject-wise and aggregate qualifying marks requirements, as explained by a senior official from IIT Guwahati.

This year, there is a lower percentage of negative marking, and the presence of more questions without penalties has boosted students’ confidence in attempting the exam. Consequently, there has been a higher cutoff for admission, as elaborated by the official.

Out of the total 1,80,372 candidates who appeared in both papers of the IIT-JEE Advanced 2023, 43,773 have qualified. Among them, 36,204 are male students, while 7,509 are female students. It is important to note that qualifying JEE-Main is a prerequisite for appearing in JEE-Advanced, which serves as the admission test for engineering colleges nationwide.

The examination took place on June 4, and the Joint Seat Allocation (JoSAA) counseling is set to commence from Monday, facilitating the allocation of seats to successful candidates
